EXCLUSIVE: Madhuri Dixit ADMITS vanity vans provide comfort & privacy; reveals, “We used to go in Ambassador cars to Ooty, to the jungle”

Madhuri Dixit was credited for singularly paralleling her male contemporaries by leading star vehicles in a male-dominated industry. Her accolades include six Filmfare Awards from a record 17 nominations. In 2008, the Government of India awarded her with Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour of the country. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Madhuri Dixit recalls when actors didn’t have vanity vans and would travel in Ambassador cars to shoot.

Speaking on how shooting earlier with no vanity vans to reaching an era talking about the entourage culture, Madhuri Dixit said, “It’s such a comfort, you know, to have a vanity van finally. I remember we never had them. We used to go in those Ambassador cars to Ooty to shoot, in the jungles and everywhere. We didn’t have vanity vans. Not even once.”

Dixit added, “We used to sit in the car if it started raining—you know, wait for the rain to subside. And if it was sunny, we’d sit outside. Everyone used to sit outside. So, having a vanity van now gives you privacy, you know, and a little respect for whatever you are doing. It gives you that.”

The actress concludes, “Because of social media, you always have this digital presence. You have so many teams working with you—stylists, and this and that. It’s like a big team of people around you. Like they say, ‘It takes a village to raise a kid.’ It’s like that, you know. It takes a village to create and maintain that image of yours or the star that you are. And you know, today, it’s a completely different world altogether.”
